SOCIAL MEDIA BREAK & NEWS

I have been a little quiet recently on social media and blogging for a number of reasons.

Firstly, I went away to Florida for a week then on return went straight into the planning stages of a charity ball that Paul and I are hosting.
We decided to host a ball next year in memory our our son Luca who was born sleeping and in celebration of his twin sister Ava, raising money for the Baby Beat charity.

The charity provides a range of maternity services before pregnancy with research, during pregnancy with the latest monitoring equipment and technology to date including the wellbeing of the Mother and finally beyond with bereavement support.
So a lot of my time has been taken planing.

Secondly, I decided to have a break from social media as there has been a couple of fake instagram pages made in my name using my pictures and pretending to be me.
I've known about a few of these  accounts since early summer and subsequently stopped uploading pictures on my instagram of my children back in June.
I've reported the accounts many times but they simply just change the name and start again. Very strange and very very weird! like seriously who has the time ? Why someone would want to imitate someone else is beyond me!
I'm thinking that it has to be a child as i'd like to think that no sane adult would have the time on their hands and quite frankly be so sad, but then again you just never know.

Just to clarify my user name on instagram is @hayleygallagher  not hayleycole8 or hayleyjgallagher

I've also been volunteering in my local hospital for Baby Beat. It is a cause I am so passionate about and happy to lend my services.

Lastly, I have some news ...I have been asked to write a regular column in my local paper :) I am really grateful for the opportunity and will let you know when I the first one is published.

Metallic Pleats: Dressing down the Midi Skirt

There has been an abundance of metallic pleated midi skirts online and on the high street at the moment.

I love how feminine a midi skirt makes me feel and would normally dress it up with high heels and a fitted top. Pairing with high heels instantly takes the midi skirt to glam, and this kind of look would be perfect for a night out, girly meal, special event or date night.

Alternatively dressing down the midi skirt is also a great option. Adding a t-shirt and trainers naturally gives a low key dressed down feel perfect for casual lunches, cinema dates and girly shopping days.

This casual option of wearing the midi skirt is great for people who prefer not to wear heels on a daily basis and tend to gravitative towards easy to wear simple casual styles and who doesn't love trainer days? !

SLIP DRESS/PLAYSUIT TREND: TAKING IT BACK TO THE 90'S

When the slip dress made a comeback on the s/s16 catwalks of Givenchy, Burberry and Celine back in late 2015 it was obvious it was going to be a huge hit with ladies wanting to channel their inner 90's rock chic.

The cami dress over a tee trend proved hugely popular earlier this summer, being worn by many celebs alike such as Rihanna, Kate Moss and Thandi Newton.

I decided to switch it up a little as you've all seen hundreds of pics over the summer and at festivals  of absolutely everyone wearing a slip dress over a tee.

You will already know by now that I am a jumpsuit girl and I just loved this when I saw it.

It has delicate lace detailing to the front and adjustable straps. I paired it with this Givenchy-esq t-shirt which was a total steal.

I really love the casual vibe, but also the versatility to allow me to dress it down with a tee and trainers or wear alone with heels when I choose.

DUBAI

So I normally shoot and plan blog posts way in advance, normally around 10 days prior to posting .

But I suddenly remembered I did not post about my recent holidays.

A couple of days after the football season finished Paul and I jetted to Dubai.

As I was on holiday and suppose to be relaxing and enjoying quality time with Paul I didn't take my camera on holiday, so only had my iPhone to take pictures.

I absolutely love Dubai, I have visited 11 times to date and it has to be one of my favourite places in the world.

More recently I have been visiting Dubai with just the children during the school holidays when Paul has work commitments and is not able to travel, so it was nice to enjoy it with Paul for 5 nights before returning back a few weeks later with the children for a week.

We went with the view that we would chill out and not do much ..... how very wrong were we!!! especially when half of the football league tend to holiday there at the same time.. So lots of drinking and partying was the reality!

We stayed at the Westin this time along with a few other couples.

My favourite places to visit are;

Pai Thai Restaurant at the Dar Masyaf Hotel , Madinat Jumeirah
Zero Gravity Beach Club
Dubai Fountains
Nasimi Beach at the Atlantis Hotel
Burj Khalifa
Burj al Arab
Brunch -
fantastic everywhere.

We also visited a few clubs but like many clubs outside of the UK smoking is still allowed, so this was a blast from the past the next morning when I remembered the disgusting stale smoke smell lingering in my hair.

VINTAGE

Last week I went to the 4th birthday celebrations of My Vintage

I've never really thought that Vintage clothing was my thing, in fact I've probably been very ignorant to the fact that I thought Vintage meant smelly, old fashioned, un stylish, tatty clothing from dead people. Another misconception that I had was that vintage clothing just really meant paying over the odds for old, used, shoddy clothing. In fact vintage clothing is anything but shoddy. Clothing from back in the day is totally different from today's modern day pieces. It was so well made as it was made it last, so I was very wrong on this and I have firmly been put in my place.

Within minutes of arriving I found around 6 items that I instantly wanted to try on. Of course not all vintage clothing, as well as modern day clothing for that matter, is not always necessarily my style.
But I was pleasantly surprised as I have previously always thought that vintage wasn't for me.

Vintage clothing doesn't have to look old fashioned, obviously being head to toe in in it could give of that vibe and if that's what works for you than great. But I really don't think I could rock that look!
Sticking to the odd vintage piece, wearing and mixing it with modern day clothing is more my thing.

I ended up buying 4 pieces, 2 that I've added to my autumn wardrobe and 2 that I will wear on my holiday later this month. I also bought 3 scarfs. The items I chose were from the 60's and 80's  - who'd of thought!!!

I am glad I attended the event, it was definitely was an eye opener and I have to say I am slightly converted and will be looking out for my next piece.

ROLL ON AUTUMN

Never in a million years would I think I would say these words but I'm so over summer! Not that we ever get a decent one in this country anyway.

I mean I do love the light nights, picnics, holidays and summer bbq's and we still have the whole of August left to enjoy it- and no doubt I will.

Not one to wish my life away but I am definitely ready for autumn in terms of autumn fashion.

In hindsight it is probably due to me taking my holidays earlier in May and June and it feels like I've been living in shorts, summer dresses and sandals for months.

But autumn I'm ready for you!!

POP OF COLOUR

After spending 2 nights in London and attending a couple of blogging events, we had an afternoon free for shopping, sightseeing and a quick blog shoot.

The mild weather was perfect for shorts and a body.

I started off wearing heeled ankle boots but quickly changed to my trusty flat espadrilles- obviously more shopping appropriate.

I teamed with my mustard coloured suede biker jacket.

PRETTY FLORALS

It appears that pastel blue seems to be my go to colour of choice this summer. I've been wearing it all the time, my wardrobe is full of it, bardot tops, shirts, skirts, bags, everything.

I spotted this pretty floral playsuit last week and thought it would be great for my next holiday, but with the weather being so nice I decided to take it with me and wear it in London.

This playsuit isn't too short and has cute frill details on the shoulder and hem. It also has a wrap over front with a hook-and-eye fastener .

Playsuits and jumpsuits have always been my thing, a one stop wonder piece, just for the ease of not having to think what to pair it with, its just so easy to just throw on and go. I literally did just this, straight out of my case hence the creases.... It really could of done with a quick iron but time was short and I was in London and ain't nobody got time for that!
