THIS WEEK

I have just realised I haven't posted at all this week :(  I have also been slacking on the twitter updates - all in the name of half term.  Never get a minute!!

Last Saturday Paul and I took Madison to see JLS at the Manchester Arena- it was a spare of  the moment decision and we managed to get tickets on the day.

We did a little shopping and had dinner in Manchester before heading to the arena at about 8pm. The show was really good and Madison did enjoy it but became a little tired towards the end and kept asking when does it finish haha :)

As I am heavily pregnant we have decided not to take Madison away this half term, so we took her for a night at Alton Towers Splash Landings Hotel and Waterpark.
She absolutely loved it and had a great time. The hotel is carribean themed and has entertainment on at evenings for the kids- albeit soul destroying for the adults, but the kids love it.

I also had a routine scan this week to check the growth of the twins, as at the previous scan 2 weeks ago the little girl was slightly smaller than the average.
The consultant advised me that she is still slightly small but there is nothing to worry about as they measure on a graph for a singleton baby and twins are usually smaller than the average baby.

However they will continue to monitor me and I have another scan booked in for 2 weeks time.

Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend, we will be spending it in Leicester :)

SUNSHINE AND HALF TERM

Well spring has arrived, hurray! The weather over the last few days has been just gorgeous, although it's suppose to change for the weekend and the start of half term - typical!

I am a total sun worshipper, it's just wonderful. I love how a little sunshine totally lifts my mood and makes everything seem much better and rosy.
I've also noticed this week that even the grumpiest of people also become much more friendlier and welcoming when the sun is shining, flashing smiles when they normally sport a face that could stop a clock.

It has been a busy week for me and apologies that I have only blogged 3 times :( due to appointments, writing for the magazine, and visiting the Harrogate Baby Fair. - I must blog more and I will!

I am attending a few fashion shows in the next 3 weeks so I will be writing and reviewing those as well as regularly updating the blog as normal.

Madison breaks up from school for half term today, so we are off to Alton Towers at some point over the next few days.
Madison loves theme parks and like most children is totally fearless and just adores all the rides, the faster the better. I am however, the total opposite and will be mostly sitting spectating as usual but this year have an excuse as I am carrying precious cargo :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

WHAT'S IN MY BAG?

A few people have suggested that I do a 'What's in my make up bag' post.
One of the reasons I have not yet done this, is due to being a make up artist and the size of my make up collection is quite ridiculous.

I have however decided to put a few of my favourite products together, more or less the ones I would choose to wear daily, but not all at once obviously.

A favourite of mine being the Urban Decay 'NAKED' eyeshadow palette. This palette is one of the worlds best selling palettes. It has a range of glitter, shimmer and matte finishes.

The palette has a mixture of 12 different colours a selection of neutrals for everyday and smokey shades perfect for creating a more sultry or night time look.

It comes complete with a brush and primer potion for £36.
Urban decay now also do a follow up palette called 'NAKED2'

PRITI NYC

Earlier this week I tried a gorgeous nail polish from Priti NCY in the colour King Spider Orchid - a dark plum shade available from CutECOsmetics

Priti NYC is a organic skincare line and all polishes are completely non toxic and made without toulene dibutyl phthalate (DBH) and formaldehyde, making these products ideal for children and pregnant women.

I found this polish slightly thicker than other polishes but in a positive  non gloopy way. It was also very fast drying and chip resistant with a smooth glossy finish.

I am definitely going to stock up on some of the new spring/summer shades for 2012.

DINNER

Last week Paul and I went out for dinner with friends to celebrate one of my friends birthday. It was a last minute decision so I didn't have much time to perfect and plan my outfit as I would have liked.

I am getting quite a bump now so my usual dresses are not fitting as the bump makes the dresses ride up and appear a lot shorter- not a good look for a pregnant woman showing too much flesh! So a new dress was required.

I bought a dress from Zara - It's a pale green lace dress. It is not part of any maternity range so doesn't really look that good with a bump- but it was last minute so had to do!

In fact I only bought it as I thought it would be great for next year and holidays when I am not pregnant, when it will fit better and hang properly.
I also think it is a pretty dress suitable for weddings, christenings and the races.

ZARA S/S12

Yesterday I went for lunch and a little shopping at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.
I needed to pick up a few maternity items as my usual clothes are no longer fitting. I bought a few casual vests and maternity jeans from Topshop then decided to have a quick look in Zara- BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!

Zara had the most fantastic selection of the new Spring / Summer collection. It was just gorgeous - just a pity hardly anything would look good with a bump :(

If you are looking to update your wardrobe with some key spring/summer pieces then Zara is definitely the shop for you.
The collection seems to be focusing on the pretty and feminine lace look and nude tones this season- like these ......

All was not a distaster for me though, I did pick up this gorgeous Chanel inspired jacket- I can't fasten it mind - but it looks ok! :)

All of the above can be purchased from www.zara.com  prices ranging from £29.99- £79.99

MY TOP 5 NUDE LIP COLOURS

Quite recently I have found myself often sporting a nude lip look. I am an avid fan of this look and I feel it compliments most skin tones.

I think it is easy enough for most people to wear and especially good for those who shy away from colour or are indeed like me a little frightened of too much colour.

I have compiled a list of my top 5:
Lipstick   Estee Lauder Vanilla Truffle £18.50
MAC Cosmetics lipstick

Lipsticks by NARS Cosmetics - NARS
Lipsticks NARS Cosmetics - NARS Honalulu Honey £17.50
Lipstick
Lipstick  Nevada  £8.00 Topshop
I sometimes wear alone or with a similar nude toned gloss on top. My current favourites are:
YSL Gloss Pur 1 Pure Nude
YSL Gloss Pur 2 Pure Rose
Nars Lip Gloss in Turkish Delight
Mac Lip Gloss Underage
Mac Lipgloss Florabundance

I'M BACK!

Many of you may have noticed that I have been slacking on the blogging recently.
This is due to me taking a holiday with my family before the new arrivals make their appearance.
I am now back home, fully recovered from jet lag and will be back blogging more regularly.  :)

TOPSHOP STUDDED PUMPS

Last week I bought these gorgeous nude studded pumps from Topshop.
I love the studded gold detail as it gives an edgy side to a normal flat ballet pump.

These flats are perfect for the awkward interim period between hot and cold weather. The pumps are priced at £28.00, but I think they look much more expensive and very similar to some designer ranges.

REAL TECHNIQUES

As a trained makeup artist, it is paramount for me to use good quality tools. Top quality products and tools does not necessarily mean they have to have a top price tag to match as I have found.

I have recently purchased the Real Techniques stippling brush by Samantha Chapman -one half of youtube guru Pixiwoo- and I have to admit I am absolutely hooked, and it is now my new secret weapon to achieving a high definition airbrush finish.

I would class this brush as a mid range priced product at £11.99 around half the price of other stippling brushes on the market from companies such as Mac, Bobbi Brown etc.

The dual fibre brush is made from 100% cruelty free synthetic taklon bristles, perfect for mouse, powder, liquid and cream products.

I currently use the brush for applying liquid foundation. The bristles are quite shorter than other stippling brushes I have tried, therefore perfect for buffing in foundation smoothlywithout visible streaks or lines.stippling brush.
I have also used it for cream blush application and again I was impressed as it gave a flawless airbrushed effect.

I found that that after washing, the brush retained all the bristles well with no fall out. This is great news and value for the price as many other more expensive brands on the market continually shed after every wash.
I would definitely recommend this multi purpose, versatile little gem of a brush to others.

The stippling brush along with the rest of the Real Techniques collection is now available in Boots stores from mid February.

PECKFORTON CASTLE RELAUNCH NIGHT

Last week Paul and I attended the relaunch event at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire on Thursday 16th February.

The event was to celebrate the completion of the recent refurbishment and restoration work following last years severe fire damage.

Brit Award winner Emeli Sande and Lemar performed to guests and celebrities including soap stars, professional footballers and reality tv stars.

Both Paul and I thoroughly enjoyed the night and it was lovely to return to the castle where we married in 2009.
